Our Mission

The purpose of ACDLA primarily is educational, and ACDLA provides its members with a variety of educational opportunities related to protecting the individual rights guaranteed by the Texas and the United States Constitutions, preserving the citizenry’s and court system’s commitment to those rights, and promotion of competent and ethical representation of persons accused of crimes.

Membership is open to individuals who are members of the State Bar of Texas and who engage in the representation of persons and organizations who have been accused of committing crimes.

Coronavirus Updates

On March 18, 2020, the ACDLA Board voted to support the following policies:

1) Non-essential, i.e. out of custody cases, should not be handled in person at the courthouse at this time, in any way;

2) Only defense attorneys helping incarcerated clients, or those with warrants, should be entering the courthouse at this time; and

3) we agree to continually revisit these policy suggestions throughout the crisis.
